The new kitchen spaces designed by Hardy

From September, Hardy Inside will be presenting its new kitchen spaces. Ludovine Vermeillet, interior architect at Hardy, gives us a foretaste of the brand’s 2010-2011 kitchens.

Hardy Inside will soon be revealing its new kitchens: where did you find your inspiration?
Ludovine Vermeillet: During our design meetings, we worked on three creative axes linked to a range of lifestyles:
The first is based around kitchens for “entertaining”. Theses kitchens are aimed at people who like to receive guests. The entertaining kitchen is open-plan and integrates perfectly into a living area without revealing appliances, which melt into the décor.
The second type we chose is the “preparation” kitchen. It is aimed at people who love cooking - enthusiastic home cooks. The idea is to offer them a top-of-the-range kitchen of almost professional standard with integrated appliances and highly robust materials.
Our final creation was family-orientated. Here, we wanted to offer not just a kitchen… more of a living space for daily life, a space where parents and children can play, study, cook and enjoy family meals.

In concrete terms, how do these concepts come to life?
Ludovine Vermeillet:  For the “entertaining” kitchen, the new collection presents “furnishing furniture” that is far removed from the standard fitted kitchen. We chose to use more precious materials for a bold design with, for example, glossy black lacquered surfaces or Makassar ebony. There is also a central island, a snack bar and a wall unit that house an oven, microwave and coffee machine at mid-height.
For the “preparation” kitchen, we chose high-resistance materials such as stainless steel, aluminium and laminate, which is very robust. The integrated appliances include professional equipment such as a plate warmer. In the mid-height unit, there are totally customisable bamboo fittings: shelves, dispensers, chopping boards, knife holders, etc.
In the family kitchen, we opted for a modular, universal kitchen to adapt to every family’s needs, in apartments, houses, small or large spaces, etc. We offer a pivoting table that can be used as a desk or dining table or fold away to open up the space.
This collection of family kitchens is available in a range of materials and colours, including highly coloured zesty tones: carambole, nectarine and flame red. But it is also available in more reassuring shades of brown and an assortment of cool and warm greys.
The intention of this new collection from Hardy Inside was to offer a vast choice of colours and materials, alongside a broad range of combinations.
